Ontwikkelaar Sucker Punch, bekend van de Sly Cooper en inFamous-reeks, is opgekocht door Sony. De Amerikaanse studio maakt al meer dan tien jaar exclusieve games voor Sony. Daarmee is het bedrijf inmiddels al de zestiende studio die deel uitmaakt van de Sony Computer Entertainment WorldWide Studio's.
Enkele anders leden van de SCE WorldWide Studio's zijn Naughty Dog (Uncharted, Jak & Daxter) en Media Molecule (LittleBigPlanet). Sony heeft geen informatie gegeven over de financiële voorwaren van de overname. Shuhei Yoshida, baas van de Sony Computer Entertainment WorldWide Studio's:

Vorige maand hebben de medewerkers van Sucker Punch aangegeven dat ze aan een nieuwe PlayStation 3-game werken. Of het hier om inFamous 3 gaat, is nog niet duidelijk. Bruce Oberg, mede-oprichter van de studio, zei:
That could be with Sony. We have a great relationship with them. We love the PlayStation platform. I'm not lying when I tell you it's a really killer technological platform for us to work on.
The support and marketing, and also their approach to us, to let us make the game we want to make, is really incredible. Our relationship with Sony has been just incredible, all through the Sly series and all through inFamous.
The previously independent studio did not own the inFamous intellectual property – an arrangement it described as a "small price to pay" for the "freedom to make the game we want to make".
