Het spel Hades is vanaf nu trotse winnaar van een Hugo Award. De award wordt al sinds 1953 uitgereikt voor het beste sciencefiction- of fantasieverhalen en is vernoemd naar Hugo Gernsback.
Dit jaar werd de award ook uitgereikt in de categorie games, wat een eenmalige categorie is. Hades kreeg hierbij concurrentie van niet de minste games, zoals The Last of Us: Part 2, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Spiritfarer en Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Hades wist echter de prijs binnen te slepen.
De organisatie heeft laten weten dat zij overwegen om de categorie voor games mogelijk jaarlijks terug te laten keren.
